ABSTRACT
This
study examines improving strategic planning skills to sustain competitive
service delivery in GTBank. Both primary and secondary data were used for the
analysis of the study. Primary data was
collected using interviews and administration of questionnaires on a purposive
sample of 150 staff. Secondary data was
collected from journals, magazines, textbooks, internet, etc. The study
revealed that the bank has drawn up several strategic plans and religiously
implemented them since its establishment. It also came to the fore that the bank
enjoys competitive advantage in the industry, the most important factor contributing
to the competitive advantage, being the bank’s extensive branch network. Based on the findings revealed from the data
analysis and interpretation, the study therefore recommends among others that a
well motivated staff with proper condition of service and a good pay packages
should be retained since they are the resource tasked with the duty of carrying
out any policy and strategy to help organization stay in competition.
